While it seems a bit premature to release a “best of” project, BarlowGirl’s Our Journey...So Far does a nice job of chronicling the sisters’ successful career thus far. Rebecca, Alyssa, and Lauren share 15 of their favorite songs which detail the story of the band’s first decade – in chronological order. The collection includes No. 1 hits “Never Alone,” (the song that launched their career) “I Need You to Love Me” and “Let Go” as well as Top 5 cuts “Mirror,” “Grey” and “Beautiful Ending.” With a mix of ballads and up-beat rock tracks, this collection spans all four of the trio’s releases, including an original cut from their holiday album.

Longtime fans will enjoy the 16-page photo booklet included in the album’s packaging. Like the album, the photo booklet is a visual look back at the last 10 years. In scrapbook style, the booklet contains candid photos of the girls, including never-before-seen shots from their first photoshoot and the album cover of their first demo. For the rabid Barlow fans, a 50-page special edition hardcover photo book is also available for a limited time.

Fans would likely rather have had new studio material from the sisters, but this effort should cater to those who know BarlowGirl only from the radio. Now there’s one collection that provides casual listeners with all of their hits in one place. Plus, there are also a few additional selections that will give listeners a taste of the full spectrum of what BarlowGirl is capable of – beautiful, lush harmonies on one end and pop/punk rock on the other. A couple lesser-known cuts like “She Walked Away” and “Surrender” from the trio’s self-titled debut are also pleasant reminders of past offerings.

There aren’t any bonus tracks or rarities, aside from a new mix of “I Need You to Love Me,” so longtime fans likely already own everything featured here. However, this is a project that the passive fan could enjoy, giving them the quick BarlowGirl rundown spanning the last 10 years in under an hour.
