Worship

Artist: Myron Butler
Label: EMI Gospel
Genre: Gospel

Myron Butler is a triple-threat – a successful singer, songwriter and producer that first rose to acclaim nearly 15 years ago through his work with Kirk Franklin on the historic-selling God's Property album. Since then, he has worked in the foreground as an award-winning artist in his own right, backed by his group, Levi.

Because of his versatility and proven staying power, no one balked when he announced plans to record a live worship set without his group. And with his new album, Worship, Butler again proves he can be trusted to deliver heartfelt lyrics with progressive and impressive melodies.

The 11-track project features guest vocals from labelmate Tasha Cobbs ("Not My Own") and Blanche McAllister-Dykes ("Holy One"). Other stand-outs include "All For You," an energetic declaration of lives submitted to God, "I Honor You," which is an upbeat reworking of the hymn "Come Thou Fount," and the worshipful current radio single "Bless the Lord."

While Worship may not necessarily be congregational music (some may find it complex, which has often been a hallmark of Butler's music), the musicality that he offers is noteworthy and worth owning.
