Tanya Dallas Lewis
Biography
Just one listen to the powerhouse vocals of the captivating Tanya Dallas-Lewis conjures up visions of vocalists like Yolanda Adams and Whitney Houston.
A natural 'ham,' she loves laughing, being silly, and she's no stranger to the spotlight. With a warm personality, when you meet her, you may feel like you've known her all your life. She's artistic and daring-and gets kicks out of going against the grain. She's a rebel at heart! [In a good way, of course!] It's that same amazing personality and amazing voice which has enabled this young woman to travel some very special roads leading her from Amateur Night at the Apollo to the most notable politcal gatherings in the Nation's Capital.
Almost effortlessly, her singing has entertained, empowered, and inspired. And as our country enters an exciting new era, filled with possibility and apprehension, hope and tension, her new song, "Something About a Miracle," ties the strands together, acknowledging the tough times to be endured – and the miracles that can follow.
As a gospel singer, Tanya has always sung about matters of spirit and faith and the need to perservere through even the toughest times. That is the subtext of her new single, "Something About a Miracle," written by Producer/Songwriter James Austin, a striking and bracing ballad that explodes into an inspirational anthem. It's a song that perfectly fits the moment – times are tough for many, but the hopes of the nation buoyed by the arrival of President Barack Obama, are open to a new possibility. Over its shimmering strings and resonant keyboards, Tanya sings of the hope, the faith, and finally, the assertion that miracles do come true. It's inspirational in the best way – it acknowledges the hardships while creating the possibility of triumph.
"When you sing from your soul, there's a certain transparency there – and people know when it's real," says Tanya. WWhen I sing from my soul – I can feel His presence, and my desire is that when people listen to my music, they will feel Him, too."
A pastor's daughter, Tanya has shared the stage with gospel icons artists like Tremaine Hawkins, Vickie Winans, Richard Smallwood, Kenny Lattimore, Jeff Majors and many others. She's performed for the Congressional Black Caucus, the United States Army, Black Entertainment Television, The National Negro Council of Black Women, and even sung the National Anthem for an audience which included the Rev. Jesse Jackson.
Tanya works in the music ministry at her church as a worship leader, a youth choir director, and in the youth ministry. She is a singer, songwriter and recording artist.
