Tye Tribbett, FreshBy E.J. Gaines, contributing writer, gmclife.com With his newest album, Fresh, Tye Tribbett hopes to demonstrate that God is doing a new thing. Indeed, we can see that with Tribbett, himself – it is the first album since he disbanded his backing group, Greater Anointing (G.A.), and it is the musical result of a time of refreshing and restoration following a rather publicized infidelity in his marriage. The project features sixteen tracks, each penned either entirely or in part by Tribbett, which depict the newness of a life with Christ. It also highlights performances from guest artists such as Israel Houghton, Isaac Carree and Mali Music. The project leans rather urban and electronic in sound, which may diminish its reach to the masses. But for his base, Tribbett’s renovated style will likely be a home run. Fresh features catchy, well-produced tunes. More importantly, perhaps, it provides what is his most transparent and honest musical offering to date. Vote On AlbumComments |
