Q&A with DecembeRadio![]() Don't miss DecembeRadio on The Kitchen Sink Saturday, December 22, 8 pmETwith host Elle Duncan. by Jenny Bennett Q: What does the name DecembeRadio mean? A: Josh (Lovelace) literally saw a calendar that happened to be flipped to December sitting on top of a radio. Because it was actually March at the time, it caught his attention. That's really it. It was totally random. The spiritual answer is that we celebrate the birth of Jesus in December and we have a desire is to spread the love of Jesus Christ on the radio, which happens to be true, but that's not really how the name happened. Q: How did you form your band? A: Brian and Josh (Reedy) grew up together in Virginia, and then we met Eric in Tennessee through a project called Vision Productions. We met Boone through producer Scotty Wilbanks (Third Day). Scotty also played a big part in getting us our first record deal. Q: How do you like to work together in the studio? A: It's a lot of collaboration – both with lyrics and instrumentation. We pretty much just work and work until we get a sound that we like, and we do it all together. It's a joint effort. Q: Who are your influences? A: A lot of classic rock like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Black Crowes, and The Stones. Also Stevie Ray Vaughan. The Beatles are really an influence whether you intend for them to be or not! As far as Christian bands, Jars of Clay, Third Day are the big ones. Our sound is a blend of a lot of different things, but it is definitely a guitar-based, classic rock style with some modern elements. There hasn't seemed to be a lot of artists with this sound in the Christian music industry, and we have been excited to find that many people are identifying with this style in the same way we do. Q: What does the band have coming up that we should know about? A: An expanded version of our self-titled recordwas released November 13th, which includes the single we have out now called Find You Waiting. We should have another new album out in late spring/summer, and also this spring we'll be touring the U.S. with Third Day. -------------------- Brian Bunn (lead guitar, lead vocals) http://www.decemberadio.com News You May Also LikeComments |
