Two Original Series to Premiere on Gospel Music Channel on Sunday, June 1:
NEW ORLEANS – May 18, 2008 – June will be a premiere month on Gospel Music Channel (GMC) as the nation's first and only 24/7 television network devoted to the uplifting, inspiring and diverse music that is Gospel/Christian music will premiere one new and one returning series on Sunday night, June 1.
Dr. Bobby Jones, the man who helped revolutionalize gospel music as a creator, producer, director and performer, will bring his explosive and colorful personality to GMC in a new original series Bobby Jones Next Generation, premiering Sunday, June 1 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. At 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the series premiere of Bobby Jones: Next Generation, GMC kicks off Gospel Dream 2008, the channel's popular American Idol®-like talent search series that returns for a third season.

Dr. Bobby Jones Next Generation will be an hour-long emerging artist showcase of musical performances and interviews with up-and-coming performers. GMC, Atlanta-based Kingdom Come Productions and Dr. Jones are producing the new series, and Dr. Jones works with GMC on writing, recruiting talent and promotion.
Dr. Jones has dominated Sunday programming as the host and executive producer of Bobby Jones Gospel, seen on BET since 1980. In addition to Bobby Jones Gospel, he is also the producer of Video Gospel, which debuted on BET in 1989, the first national television outlet for gospel videos. He is the host of the Bobby Jones Countdown, which has excelled in the radio syndication industry and can be heard in major cities throughout the country. Dr. Jones is a recipient of a GRAMMY Award, a Dove Award, a NAACP Image Award and multiple Stellar Awards. Next Generation will also feature a weekly segment from Ron Grant's "Village Underground" open-mike showcase in the heart of New York's Greenwich Village.
Gospel Dream 2008 will once again invite performers from all gospel/Christian styles, including traditional, soul, rock, blues and country, to compete on national television for a chance to win a record & music video deal and a Royal Caribbean Cruise, among other prizes. The series will spotlight solo artists, ages 18 to 40.
Gospel Dream 2008 will run for five consecutive Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, culminating with the grand finale coronation of the new Gospel Dream winner on June 29. Entrants' audition experiences in front of music industry talent scout Ron Grant will be featured on Gospel Music Channel's GMC Insider and The Kitchen Sink series throughout June. Royal Caribbean International and Crest, among others, have signed on as sponsors of Gospel Dream 2008.
